An international Team for the respect of environmental policies

In the course of the last years and even decades, the protection of the environment has become a matter of increasing awareness and importance. Indeed, our global environment requires more and more exchange, trading, interaction, production and consumption in order to thrive. However, to combine the expansion of human activity and the well being of both, humans within the environment, regulations have to be passed and followed. International laws, protocols and many conferences have enacted regulations that are to bind all countries to a common goal, that is the reduction of the impact of detrimental human behaviour towards the environment, especially in terms of limiting the emission of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.

The world commitment in the protection of the environment would not have been possible without some major conferences, including the Conference on the Human Environment in 1972 or the World Commission on Environment and Development in 1983. Moreover, additional major events in this regard are to be remembered such as The Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer in 1985, that was recognized by many as the most successful environmental agreement of all time; The Montreal Protocol of 1989, which aimed at the Protection of the Ozone Layer; The United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in 1992, that lead to the creation of a Climate Change agreement, a convention on Biological Diversity and a convention to combat Desertification. The renowned Kyoto Protocol of 1997, committing Governments to reduce green house gas emissions, and the World Summit on Sustainable Development in 2002, for the restoration of the world’s depleted fisheries for 2015, are also to be mentioned.

It was first the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in 1972 which marked the emergence of international environmental laws and set out the principles for many international environmental issues, including human rights, natural resource management and pollution prevention. These regulations, and a great number of others, have lead states, companies and people to a more responsible way to live, work, and consume.
